Problem: Cities, advocacy groups and researchers have a hard time getting data on street safety.
Roles: UX design and research, UX writing, product design, product management
Process: OurStreets started as the How’s My Driving twitter bot, which allowed people to tweet a license plate number to the account and receive a vehicle’s traffic citation history from the DMV’s public database. As the only non-developer on the team, I handled everything that wasn’t code: running user research, wireframing and protyping, product marketing, and outreach events with local advocacy organizations. Together, we reached 50,000 users and 30 partnerships with municipal transportation departments and groups like the League of American Bicyclists and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.
